Kevin Dell, a 61-year-old former postman from Hawthorn Grove, Trowbridge, was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on December 10 after pleading guilty to three counts of sexually assaulting children under the age of 13. Despite the severity of his offenses, Dell was handed a 12-month prison sentence suspended for two years.
The court was informed that in December 2023, Dell sexually assaulted a victim familiar to him from his previous postal service career by repeatedly attempting to kiss her. This incident was promptly reported to the police, leading to his arrest.
During the subsequent investigation, following an application under Sarah’s Law, additional sexual assaults by Dell against a second child that occurred between 2019 and 2021 came to light. Dell was charged accordingly and admitted to the charges.

Local Crime Investigator Tamara Barnett, from the Volume Crime Team, praised the victims for their courage in coming forward despite the challenges involved. She also highlighted the ongoing support provided to them and their families throughout the investigation and legal process. Barnett noted that Dell exhibited no remorse, even boasting about his actions despite his guilty plea.
As part of his sentencing, Dell has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years. He will also be subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a five-year restraining order to protect the community.
Sarah’s Law, officially known as the Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme, enables individuals to inquire with the police about whether someone in contact with children has a record of sexual offenses or poses a risk to children’s safety. This measure aims to help protect vulnerable young individuals from potential harm.
