The former Treetops care home in Keynsham, which has been left abandoned since its closure in 2018, is finally set for redevelopment after several failed attempts. The site on St Clements Road will be transformed into 36 flats, featuring one to three bedrooms, following the approval of the planning committee.
Despite objections regarding the lack of affordable housing, the council’s planning committee granted permission for the development. Members acknowledged the deteriorating condition of the site and stressed the importance of taking action.
Kevin Morely, agent for the developers, emphasized the minimal environmental impact of the proposed scheme and the effort invested in creating an acceptable design.

The unanimous decision by the committee reflects the consensus that the redevelopment is vital for the area and aligns with the goal of utilizing brownfield sites for housing development.
