Jimmy and Hector, two German shepherds rescued from a bleak shelter in Egypt, have been waiting patiently for more than two years to find a family to call their own. Despite their loving nature and good health, these two large dogs remain overlooked by potential adopters.
The pair endured confinement in a cramped, dark room with almost no fresh air or access to the outdoors before animal rescue organisation Miracle’s Missions intervened. At around five years old, they carry the scars of neglect but have an unyielding spirit and affectionate temperament.
Emma, a dedicated rescue worker, shared her frustration with their ongoing struggle to find a home. “Two beautiful boys that nobody wants,” she said. “They’ve had applications, but unfortunately, everyone has backed out for reasons unrelated to the dogs themselves.”

Jimmy and Hector are friendly with people, get along well with other dogs, and have even been tested with cats and children. Their only challenge is their size—the combined 80 kilograms they carry makes them harder to place as a pair.
The rescue’s adoption message underscores their desire: “It’s time for their lives to change. These loving, playful dogs need a chance to see the world beyond their small, isolating space. They can’t continue living like this.”
Having shared nothing but companionship with each other for years, rescuers emphasize their strong bond. “We want to keep Hector and Jimmy together so we don’t break their hearts by separating them,” the statement explains.
Both dogs are neutered, vaccinated, and ready to travel from Egypt to the UK, where they hope to find their forever family. To help cover the high costs of their care—including medical treatment after Hector suffered heat stroke—the rescue team also appeals for donations.
With Hector now fully recovered and both dogs in high spirits, the only missing piece is a loving home. “Their adoption will free up resources so we can help more sick and injured animals,” rescuers add.
