Forest Green Rovers Secure 2-0 Victory Over Yeovil Town Under Robbie Savage

Robbie Savage celebrated his first victory as Forest Green Rovers manager as his side defeated Yeovil Town 2-0 in the Enterprise National League at the Bolt New Lawn. A standout moment came from debutant Jili Buyabu, who injected energy into the game after coming off the bench 10 minutes into the second half.

The match’s opening period was subdued, but Forest Green quickly gained momentum in the second half. Buyabu’s dynamic play revitalized the Rovers, who were seeking to bounce back from a recent draw against Solihull. His incisive cross found Christian Doidge, the former Hibernian striker, whose header just missed the target.

Yeovil Town came close to scoring after Nicky Haughton’s powerful strike hit the post in the 64th minute. However, the decisive moments were still ahead. Buyabu continued to threaten, setting up Doidge once more, whose close header narrowly went wide.

The breakthrough arrived 15 minutes from the end when Buyabu’s low cross took a deflection off a Yeovil defender and nestled into the net. Yeovil’s frustration grew when Jake Wannell was sent off late in the game after receiving a second yellow card for handball. In stoppage time, Kairo Mitchell sealed the victory, calmly converting a close-range finish.

The 2-0 win marks a strong start for Robbie Savage’s tenure, demonstrating Forest Green’s attacking intent and defensive resilience.
