Flood Warning and Alerts Issued as Heavy Rain Continues in Somerset

Somerset remains on high alert as persistent heavy rain triggers multiple flood alerts and a flood warning across the region. The Environment Agency (EA) has issued these warnings amid rising river levels and high tides that increase the risk of flooding in several areas.

A weather warning encompassing both rain and wind took effect at noon on Tuesday and has now been extended until 6pm on Wednesday, November 12. This prolonged period of adverse weather has led to concerns about flooding, particularly around the South Somerset rivers.

The EA has highlighted that river levels are rising and flooding is expected to impact properties and low-lying areas near the rivers. Minor roads and fords located near and across the rivers are likely to become impassable due to fast-flowing and deep floodwaters.

Residents are urged to activate any flood protection measures and remain vigilant of their surroundings. The EA continues to monitor rainfall and river conditions closely as further rainfall is predicted into Wednesday morning.

Stay safe and take necessary precautions as the community navigates these challenging weather conditions.
