Firefighters Rescue Trapped Driver by Cutting Off Car Door in Somerset Crash

This afternoon, firefighters in Somerset performed a swift rescue operation after a single-vehicle crash left one person trapped inside their car. The incident occurred in Emborough, near Wells, at approximately 3:21 PM on November 1.

Crews from Shepton Mallet and Wells fire stations responded promptly, finding one adult still trapped in the vehicle. To access and safely free the casualty, firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the car door. A second individual sustained minor injuries and was described as “walking wounded.”

Both casualties received immediate medical attention from paramedics on site. The fire service then secured the vehicle before handing the scene over to the police. The entire rescue operation was concluded by 5:01 PM.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson stated, “Two fire engines were dispatched to a single-vehicle road traffic collision at Emborough. Upon arrival, crews confirmed that one adult was trapped inside the vehicle. Using hydraulic cutters, they removed the door to reach the casualty. Another person was treated for minor injuries. The vehicle was made safe, and the incident was handed over to the police.”
