In Somerset, a metal building became engulfed in flames last night, prompting three fire crews to take swift action. At 10:11 pm on Friday, April 4th, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue sprang into action upon receiving reports of a building ablaze in Glastonbury.
Responding to the urgent call, a fire engine from Glastonbury and another from Street rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, it was evident that a galvanized metal building was fully consumed by the fire.
The two crews quickly mobilized, utilizing a hose reel jet and main jet to contain the blaze and prevent further escalation. With the intensity of the inferno requiring additional water, a fire engine from Wells was also called in to assist.

Ultimately, the conflagration was quelled by the concerted effort of the firefighters employing the two jets. An accidental cause is suspected for the fire, which left the eight-meter by five-meter metal structure in ruins. Although typically utilized as storage warehouses, the building’s contents at the time of the fire remain unknown.
