Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service responded to a large, deliberate fire on a cliff face near Oddicombe Beach in Torquay on the evening of Friday, July 24. The initial call came in around 9:30 pm, prompting the dispatch of two fire engines.
Upon arrival, crews quickly assessed the situation and confirmed the fire was extensive, leading to a request for additional support. In total, five fire engines and an off-road vehicle were deployed, with personnel from Torquay, Paignton, Bovey Tracey, and Newton Abbot stations mobilized to combat the blaze.
Police were present at the scene and have confirmed the fire was deliberately set. After several hours of firefighting, the blaze was fully extinguished in the early hours of Saturday, July 25, allowing all emergency crews to stand down and leave the area.
