Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service responded to a deliberate fire on a cliff face near Oddicombe Beach in Torquay on the evening of Friday, July 24. The incident began around 9:30 pm when two fire engines were initially dispatched.
Upon arrival, crews quickly realized the scale of the blaze was significant and called for additional support. Three more fire engines and an off-road vehicle were sent to assist, with firefighters from Torquay, Paignton, Bovey Tracey, and Newton Abbot stations all involved in tackling the fire.
Police were also present at the scene, and investigations confirmed the cause of the fire was deliberate. By the early hours of Saturday, July 25, the fire was fully extinguished, and all emergency personnel had left the area.
