A fire at a bowling club in Weston-super-Mare is believed to have been accidental, according to Avon Fire & Rescue Service. The blaze occurred in the early hours of Friday 14 August at Clarence Park, causing damage to several trees, a wooden hut, and a tent belonging to the Clarence Park Bowling Club.
Local councillor Mike Bell shared details of the incident on his Facebook page, praising a vigilant local resident and the prompt action of firefighters for quickly bringing the fire under control. He commented, “Council officers have reached out to the Bowling Club and will work to restore the area as soon as possible. With the current dry and sunny conditions, any use of fire in our public parks is highly irresponsible and could have resulted in a far worse situation.”
Avon Fire and Rescue Service reported that two crews from Weston-super-Mare arrived at the scene at 12:45am to find the fire affecting a shed, surrounding trees, and a tent. The firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze without any injuries.
