Fire Breaks Out at Somerset Flat After Food Left Unattended on Hob

A fire erupted in a Somerset flat after food was accidentally left unattended on the hob.

Three fire engines from Castle Cary, Wincanton, and Shepton Mallet responded promptly to reports of smoke billowing from a first-floor flat on Warrens Close in Bruton. The emergency call came in just before 6pm on Friday, June 5.

According to a spokesperson from the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, firefighters found the source of the smoke to be food left cooking on a ceramic hob. While this caused significant smoke, the resulting damage was minimal, affecting only the food and cookware.
