A fire erupted this afternoon (Monday, 27 July) at Weston General Hospital, prompting the evacuation of all patients and staff from the premises.
The fire originated within the hospital’s emergency department, which led to the immediate deployment of fire crews who quickly responded to the incident.
Authorities confirmed that everyone inside the hospital was safely evacuated and that the fire was successfully extinguished without reported injuries.

In response to the closure, the Bristol NHS Foundation Trust has advised members of the public requiring urgent or emergency care to attend the nearest alternative emergency department or local minor injury unit.
The emergency department at Weston General Hospital remains closed as a precautionary measure. The Trust has assured the public that it will provide updates regarding the reopening of the department once it has been deemed safe.
A statement from Bristol NHS Foundation Trust reads: “Following a fire this afternoon, the Emergency Department at Weston General Hospital is currently closed. We will confirm when the Emergency Department can safely reopen.”
