Two men have been convicted and jailed following a violent incident that left a man in his 20s with a life-changing injury. On Monday, October 7, 2024, Dorset Police responded to reports of a serious collision on Etches Close in Bournemouth at approximately 10:10 pm.
Emergency responders found the victim with a critical injury to his left leg, which required amputation at the hospital. Investigations revealed the victim was struck by a black Range Rover not just once, but twice. The vehicle pinned him against a wall before fleeing the scene.
A search soon located an unoccupied vehicle matching the description on nearby Hoxley Road. It was discovered to have false license plates and was reported stolen. Blood evidence on the front of the car confirmed its involvement in the collision.

CCTV footage played a vital role in the investigation, helping authorities identify the two men inside the vehicle that evening. Prior to the incident, the suspects were spotted in possession of baseball bats and involved in an altercation with two other men near Etches Close. The victim had gone to assist those men when the Range Rover returned and deliberately targeted him.
The vehicle first reversed towards the victim, pinning him against the wall before driving away. Police arrested the suspects in the early hours of the next day.
Vinny Dean Conrad Morgan, 21, was found guilty at Bournemouth Crown Court of grievous bodily harm with intent, conspiracy to commit affray, and possession of an offensive weapon. His father, Conrad Lee Morgan, 55, also received convictions for conspiracy to commit affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
At sentencing on June 30, Vinny Morgan was handed a 13-and-a-half-year prison term and a driving disqualification lasting over 10 years. Conrad Morgan received a nine-month prison sentence.
Detective Sergeant Sarah Hodgson from BCP CID condemned the attack as “shockingly violent and dangerous.” She praised the swift and thorough work of Detective Constable Hannah Duell and the team for securing the arrests and holding those responsible accountable.
