A motorcyclist tragically lost his life in a collision involving a lorry near Shepton Mallet on Friday, March 6. Avon and Somerset Police responded to the incident on the A37 at 7:48 am. Despite emergency crews' efforts, the man, aged in his 50s, was declared dead at the scene. His family has been informed.
The lorry driver received medical treatment at the scene but did not suffer serious injuries. The crash caused a full closure of the A37 near the A367 junction, lasting more than 12 hours.
Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to assist with their ongoing investigation. A police spokesperson urged the public to come forward to help establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
