Pipp & Co, the artisanal bakery famed across the West Country, has opened its latest café in the heart of Bath. The family-run business, already popular in Bristol and Swindon, welcomed its first customers in Bath on Tuesday, 18 August.
Known for its diverse range of sweet treats, Pipp & Co offers an enticing menu featuring cinnamon rolls, linseed buns, strawberry cheesecake doughnuts, and butterscotch and pecan knots. The bakery prides itself on crafting high-quality, handmade products that have garnered a loyal following.
A spokesperson for Pipp & Co said: “We’re delighted to be bringing our store to Bath and can’t wait to welcome you through the doors. The new retail location on New Street previously housed Silcox Coffee, which operated from 2024 until closing this May. Silcox Coffee cited high business rates and VAT as factors contributing to their closure. Their representative expressed gratitude to all supporters and reflected on memorable experiences during their time in Bath.
After standing vacant during the summer, the unit has now been transformed into Pipp & Co’s latest café, marking the bakery’s second cafe following their initial opening in Bristol in 2024. Founded in Swindon, the bakery was acquired by Mario and Betina Evangelista in 2015. At that time, the business was producing fewer than 3,000 doughnuts weekly; by 2024, production had increased to approximately 20,000 doughnuts per week.
Alongside the sit-down café experience, Pipp & Co offers online delivery bookings. Customers can also pre-order for collection at their bakery situated on an industrial estate in Swindon and find Pipp & Co’s products at various markets and partner cafés.
The Bath café on New Street is open Monday to Friday, from 7.30am to 6pm.
