In the early hours of Friday, September 5, a devastating fire engulfed Reeves Restaurant, a well-known fine dining venue on Dunster High Street in Exmoor. The blaze, which started around 1 a.m., caused extensive damage, particularly destroying both kitchens and filling much of the restaurant with heavy smoke damage.
The fire also affected the two-floor residential area above the establishment, causing significant harm. Firefighters traced the source of the fire to a tumble dryer, concluding the cause was likely accidental. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Reeves Restaurant has announced it will remain closed for an indefinite period due to the damage. The owners expressed their devastation but gratitude for the support from the local community.
