Nestled between the historic towns of Bruton and Castle Cary, The Newt occupies an expansive working estate dominated by Hadspen House, a stately Palladian red-gold limestone manor built in 1687. Formerly home to the Hobhouse family—renowned activists and conservationists—the house and its grounds embody timeless British elegance.

The estate’s gardens, redesigned by famed landscape architect Patrice Taravella, span vast acres and host a variety of events throughout the year, further elevating The Newt’s status as one of Britain’s most exclusive rural destinations.

Visitors can enjoy 23 elegantly appointed bedrooms within the main house and explore the charming Farmyard, a former dairy farm converted into a 17-room hotel area surrounded by cider orchards and grazing livestock. The Farmyard also features a pool, bar, snug, and all-day kitchen, with complimentary drinks available at the Garner Bar. Guests can easily access the gardens and spa by bike or buggy, ensuring a relaxed and immersive experience.

With its harmonious blend of history, natural beauty, and luxury hospitality, The Newt continues to put Somerset firmly on the map as a premier destination for discerning travelers.
