Ex-Teacher Derek Barker Faces Trial for 1970s Sexual Offences at Monkton Combe School

Derek Barker, a former teacher at Monkton Combe School in Bath, has appeared in court accused of committing sexual offences against a boy during the 1970s. Now 90 years old and residing in Limpley Stoke, Bath, Barker faces three charges of buggery linked to the period when he was employed at the independent school.

At a hearing held at Bath Magistrates’ Court, Barker confirmed his name, age, and address but made no further comment. The magistrates determined that the severity of the charges required the case to be transferred to the Crown Court for trial.

Barker was granted unconditional bail and is scheduled to appear before Bristol Crown Court on June 27 for further proceedings.
