Ex-Police Officer Sentenced for Refusing to Hand Over Mobile Phone in Breach of Sexual Harm Prevention Order

Callum Denley, a former Wiltshire Police Constable, has been sentenced for failing to comply with the conditions of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) by refusing to hand over his mobile phone for inspection. The 20-year-old resident of Old Alexander Road, Malmesbury, was arrested and appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Friday, August 22.

Denley received a 12-month custodial sentence suspended for 24 months. Additionally, he is required to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and attend 26 sessions of the accredited Building Better Relations programme aimed at rehabilitation.

Previously, Denley pleaded guilty to multiple serious offenses, including making and possessing indecent images of children—some categorized as the most severe (Category A)—as well as possession of extreme pornographic material and prohibited images of children. Following the allegations, he was immediately suspended and later resigned from the police force.

In May, Swindon Crown Court imposed a 10-month suspended sentence alongside a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. At that time, a preliminary examination of Denley’s phone had revealed no illegal images. The device has since undergone a full forensic analysis, with the court awaiting the results.

Judge Jason Taylor warned Denley that should any illegal content be discovered upon forensic examination, he faces immediate imprisonment. “If anything comes back, you know where you will be—prison, rest assured of that,” the judge stated.
