In the lead-up to the busy Christmas season, Somerset residents have voiced growing frustration with Evri over widespread delivery failures. Complaints have flooded social media, alleging that parcels are either arriving late or being left in inappropriate places, such as tossed into gardens or left exposed to harsh weather conditions.
Sarah Dyke, the Liberal Democrat MP representing Glastonbury and Somerton, has taken formal action by writing to Evri’s chief executive. She calls for an “urgent investigation” into the increasing number of parcel delivery issues affecting her constituents and the wider Somerset area.
In her letter, Dyke emphasized the impact on local residents: “Many constituents have reported difficulties tracking the location of their parcels, often receiving photos that don’t show their front door or specified delivery spot. While we understand the additional pressures faced during the holiday season, reliable and secure delivery remains a fundamental expectation for customers who have paid for this service.”

Dyke urged Evri to swiftly address these concerns and communicate what measures will be taken to prevent future failures. Her appeal follows a recent BBC Panorama investigation that revealed some couriers working for Evri were underpaid and possibly cutting corners to meet demands, adding further scrutiny to the company’s delivery practices.
Acknowledging the issue, Dyke stated: “Though many Evri couriers are hardworking and committed, the frequency of delivery mistakes this year is unacceptable. It is crucial for company leadership to reassess their procedures to restore customer confidence.”
In response, an Evri spokesperson said: “Our network of 30,000 couriers is handling around four million parcels daily during the peak season. We recognize the importance of every parcel and are doing our utmost to ensure customers in Glastonbury and Somerton receive their deliveries promptly and securely.”
The company reaffirms its dedication to improving service quality amid the heightened demand of the festive period.
