‘Every Player Must Lead for Yeovil Town to Rise Up the Table’

New Yeovil Town signing Ryan Jones is convinced that leadership from every player on the pitch is essential for the Glovers to climb the league standings this season.

Jones, who joined the club two weeks ago from Aldershot Town, was set to face his former team last Tuesday before the match was postponed due to weather conditions. Yeovil invested a five-figure, undisclosed fee to secure Jones on a contract running through to the end of the 2027/28 season.

Despite his recent arrival, Jones already recognizes the talent within the squad but emphasizes that success depends on everyone embracing a leadership role during matches.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s postponed fixture against Woking, Jones said, “We’re very positive. We know we have a strong group with the quality to win games where we’ve previously fallen short. It’s a matter of stepping up and executing on match day.

“The gaffer has instilled his system, and we’re all committed to it. We’re starting to see encouraging signs, but consistency over 90 minutes is key.

“Leadership can’t come from just one or two players. Of course, some have a more creative role, but everyone must step up and take responsibility on the pitch.”

Currently sitting 14th in the league with nine wins out of 27 matches, Yeovil remain just six points above the relegation zone and 16 points shy of a playoff spot.

With 19 games remaining, Jones stresses the importance of taking each challenge as it comes and consistently improving in training.

“It’s about returning to the training ground, addressing areas where we can improve, and reinforcing our belief in our abilities. We’re working on patterns of play to unlock opponents.

“As cliché as it sounds, we must take it one game at a time. Every match presents a unique challenge, and our focus is on steady progress as the season unfolds.”
