In Somerset this week, we remember and celebrate the lives of many dearly loved individuals, including an extraordinary Everest adventurer who was part of a historic mountaineering expedition.
Publishing funeral notices has long been a trusted tradition in our community, serving as a vital way to inform, honour, and pay respects to those who have passed. Every notice featured in our newspaper and on our news site is also available on funeral-notices.co.uk — the UK’s leading platform for death notices and memorial tributes. These announcements remain permanently accessible online, offering families and friends a lasting tribute where memories, photos, condolences, and donations can be shared.
Among the many treasured lives we mark, we highlight Ann, who passed away recently at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton. Ann’s life was touched by remarkable adventure; she was a member of the prestigious 1975 British Everest Southwest Face Expedition led by Sir Chris Bonington. Reaching Everest Base Camp at 18,000 feet and witnessing the first successful ascent of Everest’s Southwest Face, Ann’s participation in this historic journey was recognized with a royal presentation by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

She dedicated her early career to television production in Bristol and was beloved by family and friends alike. Ann’s warmth and adventurous spirit live on in the memories of those she touched. Her funeral service will be held at Haycombe Crematorium, and in her memory, donations to Somerset Care — an organization close to her heart — are invited.
This week’s notices also honour many others who peacefully left us, remembered fondly by family and friends across Somerset. Services are being held at locations such as Mendip Crematorium, Glastonbury Cemetery Chapel, Haycombe Crematorium, and others throughout the area.
We extend our deepest sympathies to all families who mourn their loved ones. Sharing funeral notices remains a meaningful way to ensure that these lives are remembered with dignity, while providing a space for the community to come together in support.
For those wishing to read the latest announcements, add their own tributes, or create a funeral notice, our dedicated team is ready to assist.
