Happy Glastonbury to those who celebrate it—and to those about to experience their very first Glasto! Though I’m observing from afar this year, my heart resides at Worthy Farm. Nearly a decade ago, I attended Glastonbury for the first time, volunteering alongside a passionate team that keeps the festival’s magic alive. Over the years, I’ve experienced the Farm in all its moods—from empty grounds to waist-deep mud and scorchingly sunny days.
Veteran attendees will assure you that you can’t see it all in one visit. Trust me, you’ll want to come back. I’m still chasing discoveries like The Rabbit Hole—if you know, you know.
If this is your first venture to Worthy Farm, here are a few personal must-dos to ease your journey into the extraordinary world of Glastonbury. Don’t fret if you miss some; the festival will be back.

The 2016 Glastonbury Festival was a turning point for me. Nothing compares to the view from the iconic Glastonbury sign above The Park, pint in hand, watching the sun set over the sprawling temporary city. Within this sanctuary, the outside world fades away, replaced by joy shared among artists, vendors, volunteers, and fellow festival lovers.
Above all else: stay safe and stay hydrated. Glastonbury is not just a festival; it is a lifestyle, a spiritual journey, a home.
Visit the Glastonbury Sign
No trip is complete without making your way to the Glastonbury sign overlooking The Park. Aim to arrive early to witness the sky transition from bright blue to a warm, golden peach as the sun sets. This spot offers a stunning vantage point and a peaceful retreat after a day full of excitement.
Seek Out Hidden Stages and Bars
Glastonbury is renowned for its secret stages and bars, though their locations change yearly. The thrill of discovery adds a layer of magic to the festival. If you need respite from crowds, these hidden gems offer quieter escapes and fresh experiences.
Experience the South East Corner and The Rum Shack
Ask any seasoned Glasto attendee about Thursday night hotspots, and the South East Corner (SEC) will come up. This insider tip led me to unforgettable nights, especially the 2017 experience starting at The Temple—a mesmerizing spiritual haven—before the party erupted as the sun dipped below the horizon. The revelry continued until dawn, with The Rum Shack serving as my cherished afterparty sanctuary for nearly ten years. It’s a place that feels like home and will likely become yours too.
Try an Ostrich Burger
Food at Glastonbury is legendary. Think of it as an enormous street food festival with thousands of tempting stalls. For the adventurous palate, an ostrich burger from I Love Ostrich is a unique delight. Located near the Other Stage, this stall was a highlight of my first Glasto in 2016. The festival-themed burger, “The Glastonbury,” features an ostrich patty with smoked bacon, stilton mayo, Jack Daniels onions, and fresh leaves—a burger that perfectly captures Glasto’s spirit.
Other notable mentions: Camper Coffee Co at The Reach and Buddha Bowls at The Brewery, both lifesavers during long sweaty days.
Visit The Meat Rack
The Meat Rack brings the underground queer energy of New York’s Meatpacking District to Block9 at Glastonbury. This dimly lit, warm, and humid warehouse is a vibrant celebration of the LGBTQ+ community’s spirit. Entry requires a ticket, and many queue for hours just for a chance inside. The experience captures an exclusive, liberated, and powerful vibe that lingers long after the night ends.
Glastonbury is a place of discovery, belonging, and joy. No matter your experience level, embrace what the festival offers and leave room to explore next time. Above all, enjoy every moment of this unforgettable journey.
