England Internationals Jack Leach and Craig Overton Join Somerset for Lewis Gregory Testimonial Match

England internationals Jack Leach and Craig Overton are set to feature for Somerset tonight as they take on a South Devon XI at Newton Abbot in a testimonial match honoring Lewis Gregory. The game starts at 5.30pm and promises to be a special event celebrating Gregory’s contributions to Somerset cricket.

Joining Leach and Overton are South African squad member Migael Pretorius, promising youngster Archie Vaughan, and former England Lions batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore, all confirmed to appear in the fixture.

Unfortunately, Gregory will be sidelined due to injury and will not take the field, but he will attend the match and deliver a speech at the pre-match lunch. As Somerset’s successful one-day captain, Gregory has earned widespread respect for his leadership and performances.

This testimonial adds to a proud tradition of Somerset players holding benefit matches at the South Devon ground. The legacy began with Harold Stephenson in 1957 and was followed by recent beneficiaries like Peter Trego, James Hildreth, Max Waller, and Marcus Trescothick.

Gregory’s ties to Somerset stretch back to his youth, having been identified by Somerset and the ECB from under-11 level in Devon. By 2008, he was playing regularly for Somerset’s Second XI and involved in the ECB’s development programs.

Highlighting his career, Gregory captained England under-19s in two Tests against Sri Lanka in 2011 and made his First-Class debut for Somerset the same year. His achievements include 12 white-ball caps for England, Vitality Blast victories, and appearances in major T20 leagues such as Australia’s Big Bash League (Brisbane Heat), Bangladesh Premier League (Rangpur Rangers), and the Pakistan Super League (Peshawar and Karachi Kings).

Admission to the match is £10 at the gate.
