England Internationals Jack Leach and Craig Overton Feature in Lewis Gregory Testimonial for Somerset

England internationals Jack Leach and Craig Overton are set to play for Somerset tonight at Newton Abbot in a testimonial match honoring Lewis Gregory. The game, featuring Somerset against a South Devon XI, will begin at 5:30pm.

Alongside Leach and Overton, the Somerset side will include South African squad member Migael Pretorius, promising youngster Archie Vaughan, and former England Lions batter Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

Lewis Gregory, Somerset’s celebrated double-winning one-day captain, will sadly miss the match due to injury. However, he will attend the event and deliver a speech at the pre-match lunch. Gregory’s testimonial continues a proud Somerset tradition of players holding benefit games at the South Devon ground, a practice dating back to Harold Stephenson’s match in 1957. More recently, players like Peter Trego, James Hildreth, Max Waller, and Marcus Trescothick have held testimonials there.

Gregory’s cricket journey began in Devon, representing the county from under-11 levels before joining Somerset’s second XI by 2008 and entering the ECB development programme. He captained England’s under-19 team in two Tests against Sri Lanka in 2011, the same year he made his first-class debut for Somerset.

His career highlights include 12 white-ball appearances for England, winning the Vitality Blast, and playing in global T20 leagues such as the Big Bash League for Brisbane Heat, Bangladesh Premier League for Rangpur Rangers, and Pakistan Super League for Peshawar and Karachi Kings.

Admission to the match is £10 at the gate.
