Police responded to an allegedly stolen minibus driving through residential streets from Bristol towards Somerset, resulting in the arrest of eight teenagers. The pursuit involved various police units, including dog, firearms, roads policing, and patrol teams, along with support from a National Police Air Service helicopter. Witnesses reported the minibus causing a commotion and eventually colliding with parked vehicles on the A37 Wells Road.
The occupants fled the scene but were later apprehended by the police. The group, aged 15 to 17, remains in police custody and is believed to have been involved in the minibus theft earlier that day. The minibus has been recovered and is in the process of being returned to its rightful owner.
Detective Inspector Jason Chidgey commended the proactive policing efforts that led to bringing the dangerous situation to a safe conclusion, and expressed relief that no injuries were reported. The investigation continues, with the aim of returning the community minibus to its rightful owner.
