Late on the night of Friday, July 17, eight fire engines were dispatched to a serious house fire on Oake Close in the village of Oake, near Taunton, Somerset. The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service deployed a range of specialist vehicles to tackle the blaze.
Authorities have urged the public to steer clear of the area while the incident is ongoing. Local residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed to prevent smoke inhalation and contamination.
A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service explained, “Upon receiving multiple emergency calls, our fire control initially sent three fire engines. However, the incident commander quickly requested additional resources, bringing the total to eight fire engines, along with an aerial ladder platform and a water bowser.”

At the scene, firefighters are currently using four hose reel jets, two main jets, and breathing apparatus as they work to control and extinguish the fire.
