EE Workers Suspended for Mistreating Cat in Doorbell Video

Two EE workers have faced suspension after a doorbell camera captured them holding a cat by the scruff of its neck and carrying it around. The video, which has gone viral on social media and was also sent to SomersetLive, shows a man and a woman in EE uniforms making a doorstep visit in Weston-super-Mare.

The cat, known as Iceberg, was seen being lifted by the man by its neck and placed on top of a wheelie bin. Subsequently, the man picks up the cat once more as they walk away after receiving no response at the property.

The footage, initially shared on Facebook, has prompted an investigation by EE and its third-party provider, Money Expert, who had employed the individuals in the video. Both workers have been suspended, according to a report by the BBC.

An EE spokesperson stated, “We have identified that the individuals work for one of our third-party providers, Money Expert. Together with Money Expert, we are investigating the doorbell footage from the Broadoak area of Weston-Super-Mare. Money Expert has suspended the agents involved, while we complete this investigation. EE does not condone the mistreatment of animals and is treating this matter extremely seriously.”

The video has sparked concern among local residents, with one expressing that Iceberg is “still not himself.” The resident mentioned, “It’s affected him, which is sad as he loves the attention and is also such a friendly boy. Hopefully in time, he will go back to his normal self, heartbreaking.”
