EasyJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Turkey Due to Smoke Smell

An easyJet flight traveling from Paphos, Cyprus, to Bristol, UK, was forced to make an emergency landing in Turkey after a smoke smell was detected on board. The incident occurred on flight EZY2902, operated by an Airbus A320, while flying over the western coast of Turkey on Saturday.

The pilots received a smoke warning indicator in the cockpit, prompting them to swiftly change course and descend for an immediate landing. Following standard safety procedures, the flight was diverted to Izmir Airport, where it landed safely without further incident.

Emergency services were present at the airport as a precaution, and all passengers disembarked normally into the terminal approximately 80 minutes after takeoff. easyJet confirmed the diversion was due to a “technical issue” that caused the smoke smell onboard.
