E-fit Image Released Following Discovery of Man’s Body on Somerset Beach

Police have released an e-fit image as part of their ongoing investigation into the discovery of a man’s body on a Somerset beach. On December 28, 2024, a member of the public found the body on Lilstock Beach, sparking an inquiry into the man’s identity and cause of death.

The body is believed to have been in the water for between one and five days before washing ashore. Authorities do not suspect any foul play in connection with the man’s death. Despite an earlier public appeal, the identity of the man remains unknown.

Detective Inspector George Pettingell spoke about the release of the e-fit on Wednesday, expressing hope that the image might provide crucial leads. “We hope this e-fit will help us identify the man and allow us to inform his family and friends,” he said.

Forensic and DNA analysis suggests the man is likely of Croatian or Bosnian descent. He is described as a white male of large build, aged between 40 and 50 years. At the time of discovery, he had a shaved head and was dressed in a black jacket, black jumper, red trousers, and black Nike trainers.

Despite coordination with neighbouring police forces, his identity remains unconfirmed. Detective Inspector Pettingell urged anyone who recognizes the man from the e-fit or the description to come forward.
