Two individuals were taken to hospital following a three-vehicle collision on the A303 in Somerset this afternoon (Thursday, 30 July), with one sustaining potentially life-changing injuries.
Emergency services responded to the incident near Chard at approximately 1.20pm. Both patients were conveyed to hospital, and their families have been informed and are receiving updates from the police.
Crews from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene, where it was reported that one person had become trapped as a result of the crash.

The A303 is currently closed in both directions between Buckland St Mary and the Howley turn-off. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and anticipate delays while the incident is being dealt with.

In a statement, the force said: “We were called at around 1.20pm to the A303 north of Chard today (Thursday 30 July) following reports of a three-vehicle collision.
