A driver was safely rescued after their car overturned and rolled onto its side in a field near Kilmersdon, close to Frome, early on Saturday, June 6. The single-vehicle accident occurred around 7 a.m., when the car left the road and came to rest in the field, trapping the driver inside.
The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service responded promptly after receiving a call from Avon and Somerset Police. Two fire crews—one from Frome and another from Radstock—were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters stabilized the overturned vehicle and coordinated with ambulance personnel to safely extricate the trapped driver. Using specialized equipment, crews carefully removed the car’s windscreen to guide the casualty out. The operation was completed by 8:30 a.m., after which the driver received immediate medical attention from ambulance staff.
