Nathan Law, a 42-year-old resident of Lansdowne, Semington, has been sentenced to one year in prison after leading police on a perilous pursuit through the town of Melksham in May. The incident unfolded on Wednesday, May 7, when Law failed to stop for officers while driving a black Vauxhall Astra.
After temporarily losing sight of the vehicle, Wiltshire Police’s Road Policing Unit located the Astra on Pathfinder Way in Melksham. Law then fled the scene at dangerously high speeds, executing hazardous overtakes, driving against traffic on roundabouts, and recklessly endangering pedestrians and other road users.
The chase ended when Law’s vehicle collided with a police car. Officers apprehended him on the spot. He faced charges of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.

Appearing before Swindon Magistrates' Court, Law admitted to all charges and received a 12-month prison sentence. Additionally, he was banned from driving for five years, five months, and 28 days. Law must also pass an extended driving test before regaining his license and pay a £187 surcharge.
PC Ben Greening of Wiltshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit commented on the case, stating, “This was some of the most shocking and dangerous driving I have witnessed in my 11 years of policing. His reckless behaviour showed no regard for public safety and was only stopped because of the assertive action taken by pursuing officers. We are committed to bringing such offenders to justice.”
