A woman was hospitalized after her car collided with an electricity pole and veered off the road in West Pennard, near Glastonbury, Somerset.
The single-vehicle accident occurred just before 4 a.m. on Thursday, March 19. Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene to find the driver trapped inside the wreckage.
Firefighters from the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service used specialized tools and manual handling techniques to safely extricate the woman. She was then transported to Yeovil District Hospital for treatment.

Officials confirmed that the electricity board was called to secure the damaged pole to ensure safety in the area. The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust reported dispatching a double-crewed land ambulance, which conveyed the patient to the hospital.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
