Driver Charged After Speeding at 100mph in 40mph Zone and Dangerous Overtaking

A 27-year-old man from Chard has been charged after reportedly driving at speeds reaching 100mph—more than twice the 40mph speed limit—in a dangerous police chase on Sunday, June 22. The incident began when the driver failed to stop for officers on the A35 near Tolpuddle at 9:52 am.

What followed was a high-speed pursuit led by specially trained Dorset Police officers along the A31 towards Ferndown. During the chase, the driver not only exceeded speed limits substantially but also dangerously overtook other vehicles, putting other road users at risk.

The chase ended in Autumn Close, where police used a tactical manoeuvre to bring the vehicle to a halt. The driver was subsequently charged with multiple offences, including dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving without valid insurance, driving without a proper licence, and fraudulent use of a registration mark or document.
