Dramatic Blaze Destroys Caravan Near Taunton Amid Busy Night for Firefighters

Taunton Fire Station experienced a hectic night on Thursday, July 10, responding to two major fires in the surrounding areas. The first incident involved a caravan near Silk Mills, Taunton, which quickly became engulfed in flames. Firefighters arrived promptly, but the caravan was completely destroyed in the blaze. Dramatic photos from the scene captured the vehicle consumed by fire before it was reduced to ashes.

The crew from Taunton Fire Station said, “Last night, On Call firefighters and Green Watch attended a caravan fire near Silk Mills, Taunton. The caravan was entirely destroyed by the fire.”

Later that evening, at approximately 10:30 pm on Thursday, July 11, a second, larger fire broke out at a farm on Langaller Road. The blaze completely destroyed the farm building, with fire crews battling intense flames that consumed the property. In a fortunate turn, firefighters successfully rescued 150 cattle from the farm before the fire spread extensively.

Photographs shared by Taunton Fire and Rescue Service revealed the farm building’s roof engulfed in massive flames while crews worked tirelessly, spraying jets of water to contain the fire. An update from the fire service this morning confirmed the full extent of the damage: “The property is completely destroyed by fire, with some parts still smouldering due to dangerous building conditions and limited access.”

Despite challenging conditions, fire crews’ swift intervention saved many lives and prevented further spread, highlighting their dedication and bravery during a demanding night.
