During a heartwarming Christmas carol performance at Ferne Animal Sanctuary, the Blackdown Acapella group was delightfully interrupted by a very unexpected guest. As the ensemble sang traditional holiday tunes inside a cozy barn, one of the sanctuary’s donkeys, Jemima, surprised everyone by joining in with a perfectly timed bray that brought the performance to a joyous and humorous close.
The memorable moment unfolded during the sanctuary’s Animal Blessing service on Sunday, November 30th. Emma Green, the sanctuary’s fundraising manager, shared the story: “We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Blackdown Acapella to our animal blessing last Sunday, led by Reverend Deborah Perreau. The choir’s heartfelt rendition of Christmas carols was made even more special when Jemima chimed in with the most perfectly timed ‘eee-aw’ finale.”
The blend of beautiful human voices and Jemima’s bray left everyone in stitches and added a unique charm to the festive event. It’s safe to say the choir’s performance was not only well received by the audience but also enthusiastically endorsed by one very vocal donkey.
