Nicholas Cash, a convicted domestic abuser who evaded UK justice by fleeing to Thailand, has been found and arrested following a three-year international manhunt. The 26-year-old was charged with multiple offences related to a prolonged campaign of abuse against a former partner between February and November 2020.
Cash absconded to Thailand in October 2022 while awaiting trial at Bournemouth Crown Court. He faced charges including controlling or coercive behaviour, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage, and administering a poisonous substance with intent. Despite being found guilty in his absence, Cash remained at large until now. An eight-year prison sentence was imposed in his absence.
Dorset Police collaborated closely with the National Crime Agency (NCA), the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and the Royal Thai Police to locate and apprehend Cash. Their concerted efforts culminated in his arrest by the Royal Thai Police on December 23, 2023. Extradition arrangements are currently underway to bring him back to the UK to serve his sentence.

Detective Constable Michael White from Dorset Police expressed his commitment to delivering justice: “Since Nicholas Cash was convicted, we have worked tirelessly to determine his whereabouts and ensure he faces justice for his despicable crimes. This operation involved cooperation with numerous national and international agencies. Our priority has always been to support the victim and her family, keeping them informed throughout.”
He added, “This case sends a strong message to offenders that fleeing overseas will not shield them from prosecution. We will pursue all avenues to hold perpetrators accountable, regardless of borders.”
Dan Newell, Regional Manager at the NCA, highlighted the significance of the arrest: “Cash neglected the severe impact of his crimes and attempted to evade justice by fleeing the UK. Thanks to partnership efforts globally, he has been tracked down and will now face legal consequences. We hope this resolution offers some relief to the victim. The NCA remains dedicated to supporting partners worldwide in combating domestic abuse and securing justice for victims.”
