As festival season kicks off, over six million people are gearing up to enjoy the festivities. New research reveals some unusual remedies festival-goers turn to for post-festival fatigue — ranging from aromatherapy and essential oils to raw eggs and even crystal healing — while traditional cures like the classic fry-up and “hair of the dog” fall out of favor.
Just Eat has teamed up with Dr Amos Ogunkoya to launch science-backed ‘Festival Aid Kits,’ designed to help attendees recover more effectively after the fun ends. With half of all festival attendees admitting they felt their worst the day after returning, and an average recovery time of two full days, these kits provide the essentials needed to bounce back quickly.
In partnership with Boots and Co-op, Just Eat has introduced Festival SOS aisles on its app, offering everything from pre-festival preparations to post-festival essentials, delivered in as little as 30 minutes.

One standout item in Dr Amos’s recovery recommendations is the simple tin of baked beans. Rich in plant protein and high in fiber, baked beans support slow energy release to combat fatigue and aid gut health — essential for restoring nutrition after inconsistent eating at festivals.
Another surprising recovery aid is pickled beetroot. Packed with vitamins and minerals, its fermentation process produces probiotics that boost the immune system and support gut recovery. Even sipping the pickling juice can help reduce fatigue and enhance endurance.
Additional staples in the Festival Aid Kit include Lemon & Ginger Tea, known to ease nausea; DioraHydrate Effervescent Tablets to replenish electrolytes lost through heat and exertion; Back & Muscle Pain Relief Gel for soothing aches from carrying heavy backpacks and sleeping on uneven ground; and a Moisture Bomb Revitalising Tissue Mask for some post-festival pampering.
Dr Ogunkoya explains, “After festivals, our bodies require mindful recovery and repair. Prioritizing self-care following days of late nights, sun exposure, and nonstop socializing is crucial. I’ve carefully created the Festival Aid Kit with Just Eat to offer straightforward and effective solutions all in one place.”
Dana Grabiner, Head of Grocery and Retail at Just Eat, adds, “Festival season is a time for fun, but we know recovery can be challenging. By partnering with Boots and Co-op, we’re making it easier than ever to access everything needed to rejuvenate, whether that’s a comforting tin of baked beans or a soothing face mask.”
Festival fatigue sufferers can enter to win limited-edition Festival Aid Kits by visiting Dr Amos’s Instagram @dr_amoss starting June 30. Winners will be announced the week commencing June 30.
Festival-goers can also take advantage of exclusive offers on Just Eat throughout the summer, including buy one get one half price on select Boots festival items and 25% off selected Co-op products.
