Fans of the upcoming Glastonbury Festival were left disheartened by the news that the event failed to secure a major headlining band.
Expressing their dismay on the r/GlastonburyFestival subreddit, festival-goers lamented the absence of the band, emphasizing their disappointment with the festival’s inability to secure the group’s participation.
Despite having previously headlined the festival, the band is currently on tour and is set to release their first album in over 20 years shortly before the commencement of Glastonbury Festival.
One Reddit user posted, “No Pulp. There goes that dream.” Confirming his presence at the festival, Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker revealed that, currently, there are no plans for the 90s legends to perform at Glastonbury this year.
The band’s packed schedule includes sold-out UK shows, European festival appearances, and a double-headline slot with LCD Soundsystem at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California.
Attendees were disheartened by the festival’s failure to include Pulp in this year’s lineup. One user commented, “Of all the absentees this year, this one feels the most egregious. How did they not tie them down?”
Another expressed, “Pulp instead of The 1975 would’ve made for a perfect headlining trio.”
The current headliners for the Pyramid Stage at this year’s festival are The 1975, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo. Despite this, some fans remain hopeful for a surprise set from Pulp, akin to their unanticipated appearance in 2011.
Pulp’s forthcoming eighth studio album, “More,” is scheduled for release on June 6, marking their return after 24 years. Their lead single, “Spike Island,” was released last Thursday (April 10). Cocker has hinted at a potential DJ performance at Glastonbury Festival this year.
In jest, he mentioned the possibility of Pulp headlining the festival again, under the most extreme circumstances. He humorously stated, “If it was a life-or-death situation, but I really don’t think it’s going to happen.”
