Detailed Suspect Description Released Following Sexual Assault of 11-Year-Old Girl in Bath

Avon and Somerset Police have released a detailed description of a man they are searching for after a serious sexual assault involving an 11-year-old girl occurred in Bath. The assault took place in a wooded area near the Clarks Way playground in Odd Down between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24.

Last week, police arrested a man believed to be in his 40s. He was subsequently released under investigation as the inquiry continues.

Detective Inspector Hannah Marsh, leading the serious sexual offences investigation under Operation Bluestone, stated, “This is an incredibly serious incident, and significant resources have been allocated to identify the perpetrator. Specially trained officers are supporting the victim and her family throughout this process.”

The investigation has involved reviewing over 300 hours of CCTV footage and ongoing forensic examinations, utilizing expertise across Avon and Somerset Police.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately in his early to mid-forties, with a distinctive short beard featuring black, white, and grey colors. He has brown eyes, a dark-colored stud or hoop earring in one ear, and two black-ink tattoos of words on his neck.

At the time of the assault, he was wearing a black cap with a dark logo, a watch, a blue t-shirt with a left chest pocket, white knee-length shorts, and black and orange hiking boots with long laces.

Police urge anyone who recognizes someone matching this description to contact them immediately by calling 101 and referencing incident number 5226174542 or by completing an online appeal form.
