Derelict Glastonbury Bank Transformed into Vibrant Health and Wellbeing Hub

A once-derelict former bank building in Glastonbury has been revitalized and reopened today as a modern Health and Wellbeing Hub, providing a much-needed centre for holistic care.

St Dunstan’s House, a Grade II listed building located in the heart of Glastonbury’s town centre, has undergone extensive refurbishment thanks to funding from the Glastonbury Town Deal, part of the Government’s Levelling Up initiative.

The newly transformed hub now offers an integrated range of services under one roof, encompassing physical health, mental health, and general wellbeing support. This centralized facility aims to address key challenges faced by the community, including deprivation, social isolation, and poor health outcomes.

Sarah Dyke, MP for Glastonbury and Somerton and a member of the Glastonbury Town Deal Board, praised the reopening as a “landmark moment for the town.”

“This achievement at St Dunstan’s House represents a triumph of collaboration among councils, health partners, and the community,” Dyke stated. “It exemplifies what we can accomplish when we work together.”

She highlighted how hubs like this align with the Government’s ten-year NHS plan, particularly its emphasis on community-based care and preventative health measures. “St Dunstan’s House is an inspiring example of innovative, joined-up care delivery that helps people stay healthy, supported, and connected within their local community.”

Dyke has also reached out to Health Minister Wes Streeting, proposing St Dunstan’s House as a model for other towns striving to implement integrated, community-led healthcare solutions.

“As both Glastonbury’s MP and a Town Deal Board member, I’m proud to have helped bring this vision to life,” she added. “I will continue to advocate in Parliament for funding essential projects like this, which make a real difference in people’s lives. By transforming this historic building, we have created a beacon of wellbeing for our town’s future.”
