Billy Rowley expressed his delight and excitement following Yeovil Town’s crucial 2-0 away win against Wealdstone on Wednesday night. The victory propelled the Glovers nine points clear from the drop zone in the National League, providing a much-needed boost to their campaign.
The goals that secured the win came from on-loan Fulham forward Terrell Works and James Daly. Works opened the scoring seven minutes before halftime, expertly finishing a swift counter-attack initiated by Ryan Jones. Shortly after the break, Daly doubled the lead by converting a well-placed ball from Josh Sims.
Despite losing Troy Perrett to a red card just minutes later for a foul on Connor McAvoy, the Glovers stood strong. With ten men, they displayed impressive resilience and defensive discipline to maintain their clean sheet until the final whistle.

Head coach Billy Rowley shared his thoughts with BBC Radio Somerset, saying, “I’m delighted and thrilled with the lads. Until we were down to ten men, we were definitely the better team. We controlled much of the game and defended very well. Our tactical setup was spot on. Even when we went down to ten players, the team showed remarkable grit and determination.
“I’m so proud of them for holding on because playing with ten men is incredibly tough. The players’ legs and lungs get tired as they face constant pressure. The usual expectation is to concede under those conditions, but we didn’t. That speaks volumes about how strong we are at defending in the box. Overall, I’m over the moon with the defensive display.”
This hard-fought victory will boost Yeovil Town’s confidence as they aim to secure their status in the National League for the remainder of the season.
