‘Delighted and Thrilled’ Billy Rowley as Yeovil Town Climb the Table

Billy Rowley expressed his delight and excitement following Yeovil Town’s 2-0 away victory against Wealdstone on Wednesday night. The win propelled the Glovers nine points clear of the National League drop zone, a vital boost in their fight for survival.

Goals from on-loan Fulham forward Terrell Works and James Daly secured the win for Yeovil Town. Works broke the deadlock seven minutes before halftime after a swift counter-attack initiated by Ryan Jones. Just three minutes into the second half, Daly doubled the lead, calmly finishing after a precise ball over the top from Josh Sims.

Despite Troy Perrett’s dismissal just two minutes after Daly’s goal, the ten-man Glovers held their ground and maintained the clean sheet. Perrett was sent off for a foul on Connor McAvoy, leaving Yeovil to defend passionately for the remainder of the match.

Head coach Billy Rowley shared his pride with BBC Radio Somerset, saying, “I’m delighted and thrilled with the lads. Until we went down to ten men, we were definitely the better team. We controlled much of the game and defended very well. Our setup was spot on. Even after losing a player, the boys showed incredible grit and determination.”

Rowley continued, “Playing with ten men is exhausting—legs and lungs tire, and you’re under constant pressure from crosses and corners. Statistically, conceding becomes almost inevitable, but we held strong. That defensive resilience shows just how well we’ve prepared and how determined this group is. I’m over the moon with our defensive performance.”

This pivotal win provides renewed hope for Yeovil Town as they aim to secure their National League status for the upcoming fixtures.
