Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service responded to a significant fire on a cliff face near Oddicombe Beach in Torquay on the night of July 24. The incident, which started around 9:30 pm, was confirmed to be deliberate.
Initially, two fire engines were dispatched to the scene. However, upon arrival, crews found the fire to be extensive and requested additional support. This led to the deployment of three more fire engines along with an off-road vehicle to navigate the challenging terrain.
Firefighters from Torquay, Paignton, Bovey Tracey, and Newton Abbot stations joined the efforts to control and extinguish the blaze. Police were also present, investigating the cause, which has been confirmed as deliberate.

By the early hours of July 25, the fire service announced that the fire had been fully extinguished, and all personnel had left the scene.
