Deliberate Fire Erupts Near St Martin’s Hospital in Bath

A deliberate fire broke out at an abandoned building near St Martin’s Hospital in Bath on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 23. Avon Fire and Rescue Service received the emergency call at approximately 4:25 p.m. and quickly dispatched fire engines to Clara Cross Lane.

Crews from Bath, Kingswood, Hicksgate, Radstock, and Paulton rushed to the scene, supported by standby personnel from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service. The fire involved a derelict structure located close to the hospital grounds, prompting a swift and coordinated response.

Firefighters employed six breathing apparatuses, four high-pressure hose reels, and one jet to bring the blaze under control and fully extinguish it. Authorities have confirmed that the fire was deliberately set, and investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible.

An Avon Fire and Rescue spokesperson commented, “At 4:26 p.m. on December 23, multiple crews from the surrounding areas responded promptly to the fire at the derelict building on Clara Cross Lane. Their swift action ensured the fire was extinguished without any injuries.”
