A deliberate fire broke out at an abandoned building near St Martin’s Hospital in Bath, prompting a swift response from multiple fire crews. The incident occurred on Clara Cross Lane at approximately 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the blaze involved a derelict structure and was intentionally set. Firefighters from Bath, Kingswood, Hicksgate, Radstock, and Paulton stations quickly arrived on scene to combat the flames.
To extinguish the fire, crews utilized six breathing apparatuses, four high-pressure hose reels, and one jet. Additionally, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service had personnel on standby as a precaution.

An Avon Fire and Rescue spokesperson stated, “At 4:26 p.m. on December 23, crews from several stations attended a fire at a derelict building on Clara Cross Lane, Bath. Firefighters deployed six breathing apparatuses, four high-pressure hose reels, and one jet to bring the fire under control. The cause has been confirmed as deliberate.”
