A fire broke out at an abandoned building near St Martin’s Hospital in Bath after two youths reportedly broke in and set it alight. The incident occurred on Clara Cross Lane, where the building is undergoing redevelopment.
Emergency services responded promptly, with five fire crews from Bath, Kingswood, Hicksgate, Radstock, and Paulton working to extinguish the blaze. Firefighters used six breathing apparatus, four high-pressure hose reels, and one jet to bring the fire under control. Additional support was on standby from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.
After a thorough search of the premises, no individuals were found inside, and no injuries were reported. The building was inspected and declared structurally safe once the fire was put out.

According to Avon and Somerset Police, two male youths were spotted engaging in criminal damage and anti-social behavior near the scene. The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward. A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the fire was deliberate, emphasizing the severity of the incident.
