Deliberate Blaze Engulfs Field Near Taunton

Devon and Somerset Police are investigating a deliberate fire that broke out in a large field near Pen Elm Hill, close to Taunton, Somerset. The blaze was initially reported at around 2pm on Friday, 21 August. Emergency services swiftly responded, and Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that no injuries have been reported at the scene, where fire crews remain actively working to control the fire.

Authorities are treating the incident as suspicious and have launched further enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the fire. A spokesperson for the police stated: “We are appealing for witnesses following the large field fire reported to Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service this afternoon in North Fitzwarren.

“Emergency responders are still at the location managing the situation, and thankfully no injuries have occurred. We continue to consider this incident suspicious as our investigation progresses.”
