Dealer, 27, Sentenced for Supplying Over £1 Million Worth of Cocaine in Avon and Somerset

A 27-year-old drug dealer from Newbridge, Wales, Alex O’Gorman, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for supplying cocaine valued at over £1 million in the Avon and Somerset area.

The case began in January 2024 when a woman was stopped by police in Weston-super-Mare. Officers discovered multiple 1kg blocks of cocaine in the boot of her car. She was subsequently convicted and jailed for drug supply in March 2025. Following this, Avon and Somerset Police conducted meticulous investigations to trace the source of the drug supply.

Their inquiries led to O’Gorman, who was connected not only to the Weston-super-Mare cocaine seizure but also to a previous 10kg supply from October 2023. He was arrested in February of the same year. A search of his vehicle revealed a black bag containing numerous snap bags of cocaine. Police also recovered another bag filled with the drug from a bedroom, totaling more than 1.36kg—worth approximately £108,800.

In addition to cocaine, officers found scales, deal bags, gloves, a significant amount of cash, and a knuckle duster, an offensive weapon.

O’Gorman admitted to charges including being concerned in the supply of a class A drug, possession with intent to supply, and possession of an offensive weapon. His sentencing was handed down at Taunton Crown Court on January 7.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Lavender, deputy head of the serious and organised crime team, stated, “Alex O’Gorman was responsible for flooding our area with a large quantity of cocaine. We are pleased to have brought him to justice. Our thorough investigations linked him to the cocaine found during the Weston-super-Mare stop and an earlier supply. His possession of further drugs at arrest confirmed his ongoing involvement in this dangerous trade.”
